About me @ purely the music
I started performing music in primary school productions. During my time in secondary school, teachers seemed reluctant to give me opportunities to be involved in school productions despite me regularly asking to be part of the school bands, I was never given an opportunity. As a result the outlet was in a home studio setting which my dad became increasingly happy to let me use. I developed some song writing skills and a natural approach to learning the instruments available. After leaving school, I joined bands as a drummer but it wasn't satisfying many of my hopes and aims as a musician. After a few years of collaborating on Hip hop projects as I was into that through my early adolescence, I decided to concentrate on writing complete songs without external input, I began to share these recordings with a few people around me at work. I received some really positive response and I wanted to get out performing. I took the opportunity to perform solo, the first time for many years at a charity concert which was great and I'm hoping to get out more as time permits.
I feel that the music industry has changed. With the new developments and opportunities appearing from around and within the industry, I can see I can use what little knowledge and experience I have, to help others to embrace new ideas and get out there. |
